Introduction to skin tightening treatments
As we age, the skin starts to lose its elasticity, and begins to droop and sag. This is caused by the fat pads moving out of place, and the skin’s structure being compromised. In order to lift and tighten the skin, collagen production has to be stimulated. As the body stops producing new collagen at around 30 years old, scientists have developed new treatment and devices that help to trick the body into producing more of it, plumping up the skin and improving the skin’s structure overall.
How long does Ultherapy last?
The longevity of a treatment such as Ulthera does entirely depend on you, the patient. We are stimulating collagen and using your bodies natural healing mechanism to drive the result. Optimum results can be seen at approximately 3 months.
Does High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound work?
Ultherapy is the first FDA-cleared, non-invasive, ultrasound technology skin tightening procedure, achieved with the use of micro-focussed ultrasound. It works gently heating the underlying tissue, the device triggers the body’s natural production of collagen, without damaging the top layer of skin. It is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure which is inviting for those who are considering possible surgery in the future, but are not yet ready (either financially or mentally) to undergo an invasive, life-changing procedure. This is not the same as other non surgical treatments like pelleve or venus legacy.
We also see younger patients seeking treatment who come to stay one step ahead of the game; prevention is often cheaper than the cure!
How many sessions will I need, and how far apart can I have them?
Most patients continue reaping the benefits of this treatment up to a year after their ultrasound technology procedure. We will always review the patient after 6 weeks with a further review at 3 months, It is at the patient’s discretion whether they have further treatments.
Am I a suitable candidate?
The perfect candidate for non surgical facelift treatment is one whose skin feels less firm and appears ‘relaxed’.
Who will perform the treatment?
Aesthetic Therapists, perform this treatment as well as our Doctors having received extensive and thorough training from some of the top trainers from Ulthera.
What areas can be treated?
The device can be used on the face and neck areas of the body, but there is continuous research in order to extend treatment to other areas of the body. Cost is determined by the amount of lines that are administered during treatment.
Is there any downtime?
There is no real downtime associated with this treatment. Patients may feel a dull ache on the day of treatment, but this should subside after a day or two.
