One of our core treatments is botulinum toxin for relaxing wrinkles. Botox® is brand name for botulinum toxin type A, a muscle relaxer that is most famously used for smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles. The product is manufactured by Allergan, who specialise in effective cosmetic treatments, including CoolSculpting and Juvederm dermal fillers.
Botulinum Toxin for Relaxing Wrinkles
Doctors have been using botulinum toxin for relaxing wrinkles for over 15 years in the cosmetic industry, and can also be employed as a relaxing agent for wrinkles as well as sweat glands, even providing relief for those suffering from Bruxism. The injections work by targeting the muscles, predominantly in the face, that cause expression lines.
By relaxing these muscles, the overlying skin appears more smooth for a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. We always prefer to under treat at PHI, for natural results that maintain some lines of expression in order to avoid the ‘frozen’ look that has become synonymous with wrinkle injections in tabloids.
For those who may not want Botox® injections, there are other options for improving wrinkles. At PHI, we house the largest range of devices in the UK, and offer several treatments that can reduce the appearance of fine lines across the face.
The Tixel uses heat energy delivered to the skin by a precisely controlled grid of 81 tiny pyramids, and delivers skin tightening and resurfacing effects. This device has ablative and non-ablative settings, which means it can be used even on very sensitive areas, like the crow’s feet, cleared for application up to the lash line.
Laser Resurfacing and Dermal Fillers
Laser resurfacing is a treatment that is commonly used to reduce wrinkles, usually on the face, by directing controlled pulses of light at irregularities in skin to strip layers away. This causes a ‘controlled wound’ that the body then endeavours to heal, and new skin emerges that is smoother and tighter. This treatment also stimulates collagen production, which works further to firm skin.
Fillers can be used for targeted revolumisation in areas of concern for a reduction in wrinkles, and can even address jowling along the jaw and static, or ‘etched-in’ lines across the face.
