You may know that Dr Tapan Patel (MBBS) is the medical director here at PHI Clinic, but he is also an accomplished professional outside of the clinic. He has been practising in cosmetics since 2001, after graduating from the University of London in 1996, and in this time has won awards both personally and for the clinic.
Dr Tapan in the Media
Dr Tapan has been featured in the media widely, from performing live Botox and dermal fillers on ITV’s This Morning and appearing on Channel 4’s How To Lose Weight Well to being featured in magazines and newspapers like Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, Brides Magazine, the Daily Mail, and the Mirror. He is widely regarded as one of the best injectors in the UK, and is a Global Key Opinion Leader for Allergan, the manufacturers of Botox® wrinkle relaxing injections and Juvéderm dermal fillers, and owners of Coolsculpting.
PHI Clinic and Other Projects
After founding and running the successful VIVA Clinic for nearly 14 years, Dr Tapan opened the PHI Clinic we know and love in January 2014 at 102 Harley Street, with the intention of offering a range of non-surgical treatments to patients to treat a wide variety of concerns. Now, over 5 years later, he teaches and lectures worldwide, and has a training academy for aesthetic practitioners (Academy 102) and an online training resource (eMASTR) to spread education in aesthetics for patient safety and more effective results.
In October 2018, Dr Tapan became one of the first practitioners in the UK to demonstrate non-surgical injectable techniques at the annual BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) conference. He also founded a charitable organisation, PHI-Lanthropy, with his wife to help support a range of causes.
Academy 102 is set on the dedicated first floor of PHI Clinic, and it is here that Dr Tapan hosts training days to teach other medical professionals, performing Botox and Dermal Filler masterclasses and Getting Started in Aesthetics seminars for new practitioners.
eMASTR is an online resource created to support aesthetic practitioners with real Botox and dermal filler treatment videos as performed by Dr Tapan. This was created to be an easily accessible tool for medical aesthetics practitioners to use throughout their career, raising the bar for both industry standards and patient safety.
PHI-Lanthropy was set up to support national and international causes, most recently raising funds for YES charity with 2018 Women of the Year’s Shine A Light award winner, Anne Norona. Over £60,000 was raised to help buy a school bus for Yezidi children living on Mount Sinjar who previously had a 7km walk or hitchhike to school every day. Alongside this, Dr Tapan regularly provides burn and scarring victims with pro-bono treatment through PHI Clinic, most notably treating patients like Katie Piper, Tulsi Vagjiani, and Darren Pidgeon.
