Yesterday I was speaking on the telephone to a very reputable journalist and we were having a discussion about face tightening treatments using different technologies. Did you know that over the last eight years we have seen a surge in different types of non-surgical skin tightening and fat removal devices that claim to be able to provide remarkable results? When researching face tightening treatments online there are literally hundreds available in the UK alone claiming non surgical facelift results with catchy names and sugar coated literature.
As a patient, this can all get very confusing; an abundance of brand names associated with baffling technologies such as ‘Radio-Frequency’, ‘ND-YAG’, and ‘1540’ is enough to leave even those of sound mind questioning reality somewhat.
So, what face tightening treatment is right for me?
If we visit the dentist and unfortunately have a broken tooth, then we would most certainly not be required to know which modern technology in dentistry would be most appropriate to use in order to mend said tooth. My point here is that there comes a time when we must place faith in the practitioner to provide insight, offer choice and discuss the pros and cons, should there be any.
Our aim at PHI is to provide reassurance in the capabilities of the treatments that we offer at PHI by ensuring that we try, test and perform all of the most advanced cosmetic treatments on the market.
At your skin tightening consultation we will assess your skin tone, texture, laxity and type whilst discussing your current regimes to gain insight as to how we can best serve your needs. At this point we will also take the time to explain in detail the technologies and associated brands that may provide you with your desired outcome.
Skin tightening efficacy
Whilst we take the time to research all new technologies thoroughly, it is impossible to gain a true representation of the treatment without conducting our own studies. What may look good in a before and after photograph that is provided by a company may not necessarily represent the results of the treatments in clinic, which is why here at PHI our highly qualified practitioners take the time to assess the results of the technologies by conducting our own in-house clinical studies. Our findings are then documented and presented to the industry.
It is with this dedication and commitment to improving the standard of non-surgical treatment for patients that we have adapted combination therapies to treat specific indications, and in this article I have highlighted some options that we provide at PHI Clinic.
Combination therapies for face tightening.
The most common requests we receive from patients are to tighten areas of the face where they may find an increase in skin laxity. The primary areas of concern are the jowl area in the face and patients usually report desires to improve this area. As part of the natural ageing process, we lose volume within specific areas of the face and also our collagen and elastin production reduces, also as we age our supporting structure changes under the skin making it important for your practitioner to be highly qualified in order to formulate the right plan for you.
Skin tightening for jowls
Ultrasound technology – We can add support to the face by using ultrasound technology to treat it at a structural level.
Radio-frequency – We will use needle based radio-frequency to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin area.
Aesthetic injectables – With subtle injections of Botox® and light applications of dermal filler, we can add volume to areas where there are signs of depletion (we can not only reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles but also lift, volumise ,rejuvenate and at symmetry to the face with this treatment)
This will be suitable for patients roughly in their 30s to their 60s, and while not all technologies would be appropriate for each individual, we hope this gives you an idea of what is available to you.
