Tricks to get rid of wrinkles around the eyes: From the Experts

wrinkle treatments for the eyes

Making the decision to get rid of wrinkles is a tough one:

It’s a cool Monday morning in Autumn, and as I cast my eyes on my reflection through the mirror in the bathroom, I stop; adjust my gaze and focus at my eyes. Wow – I look tired!

Where my cheeks once met my eyes with silky transition, they now showcase a hollow valley. Who turned the volume down and echoed the word “reality” in my head?!

I have more wrinkles – and I can handle this. What I can’t handle is not being able to shield and conceal them from the world with my make up. What was once nothing more than a very simple task has now become a daily battle against nature to maintain my youthful appearance.

Being in my 40’s, I take diet and exercise very seriously; my chosen treatments do not replace this but it does sometimes feel like the amount of miles I cover on my feet have a direct impact on the loss of volume in my face.

Having Botox® has been great for the wrinkles around my eyes, but can’t add volume to the areas that require attention. HA Fillers, however, can plump up the skin and restore lost volume & collagen in the skin. With natural ageing, we lose volume in specific areas. Gentle applications of HA Fillers can replace this and give really natural results. As HA attracts water it not only volumises, but although rejuvenates the skin leaving a glow that looks amazing.

Combining Botox® and Fillers to treat wrinkles

Guess what? You can do them together. The Doctor states that whilst you can combine the two treatments to treat wrinkles and volume loss, we would usually treat a patient with fillers one week after the botox. You will need to top up your Botox® approximately every 4 months and top up the fillers in just over a year post treatment, which will not compromise your results at all.

Laser Resurfacing

For the dedicated patient, you may wish to explore either fractional or ablative resurfacing to get rid of wrinkles. Essentially, you are dealing with a controlled injury to the skin. Through the boosting of collagen and removing the top layer of skin, resurfacing can trick the body into producing more collagen (which depletes after we hit age 30), speeding up the healing process and leaving the skin with a much more youthful glow.

Our doctors at PHI are highly qualified practitioners who specialise in the techniques above. Always ensure you research thoroughly before confirming your treatment. Dr Tapan Patel lectures and teaches extensively on every continent in the globe in both injectables and resurfacing, so be assured that you are in the best hands.
