What is Laser Lipo?

Laser lipo is a procedure that is frequently confused with non-surgical techniques such as radio frequency and ultrasound, which, whilst are still effective, are not invasive treatments or as long-lasting.

Laser lipo involves a small incision being made – roughly the size of your baby fingernail – with the introduction a laser fibre which works to dissolve fat and tighten the skin. It is still surgery, and there is some downtime associated with it. However, the results are ongoing and so long as a healthy lifestyle is maintained, the effects of laser lipo can last for many years.

In the past, techniques known as Smart Lipo were adopted to remove unwanted fat. Often, these procedures were associated with a lot of pain and discomfort and became unfavorable among patients.

Thankfully, due to extensive research and continual trials, new devices and methods have been introduced to improve the patient experience, while delivering great results.

What Results Can Be Achieved?

With any fat reduction procedure, it is important to understand that results are long-lasting, but factors such as hormonal and lifestyle changes may affect the benefits of laser lipo. We can never guarantee permanent results, but with the right diet and exercise, as well as meticulous attention to detail with the aftercare, there is no reason why patients should not reap the rewards for years to come.

What Devices Are Used For Laser Lipo?

At PHI Clinic, London, we use the revolutionary Cellulaze device from Cynosure. Cellulaze is used to target larger areas of fat, such as the stomach. It is first directed towards the fat, heating it to the optimum temperature to start dissolving the fat. Mr Shaaban – the leading UK surgeon who performs Cellulaze – then focuses on the dermis, using the laser fibre to trigger collagen production, which over time helps to firm and tighten the skin.

Precision TX is primarily used for the neck area, providing a minimally-invasive neck lift. Adopting a similar method as previously mentioned, the Precision TX has proven to a rewarding treatment for those who have a ‘double chin’, or skin laxity.

Equally, the Triplex setting both fluidifies fat cells and proliferates collagen, only this particular part of the laser lipo device is used mainly for what is most commonly referred to as ‘bingo wings’.
