Male Dermal Filler Treatment

While many people may regard dermal fillers as a feminine treatment, they are increasingly being sought out by men, with some clinics and clinicians seeing the number of enquiries for male dermal filler treatment double in the last few years. While dermal fillers can be used to treat both men and women, there are some gender differences in the treatments we provide.
The women who visit us often seek out treatments that soften the face for a more oval or heart-shaped face, or may request lip augmentation for a plumper pout, whereas a male dermal filler treatment often involves creating a more defined appearance to the jaw, or softening deep set wrinkles.

Male Dermal Filler FAQs
What are dermal fillers made of?
The dermal fillers we use are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar in skin and tissue that acts as a cushioning agent. When introduced into a target area via a needle in order to enhance or augment, it is capable of attracting up to 1000 times its own weight in water in order to create or replace lost volume. Hyaluronic acid is broken down over time by the body’s natural processes.
How long do dermal fillers last?
The longevity of results will depend on the filler product used; at PHI Clinic, we exclusively use the Juvederm Vycross range, that has a variety of product thicknesses, to achieve a wide range of effects. For male dermal filler treatments like chin and jawline enhancement, we would most likely use a thicker product to achieve a sculpted effect, which would last for approximately 18-24 months.

How soon can results be seen?
Results are noticeable immediately following treatment, but will take two to three weeks to ‘settle’ and become optimal. Some swelling and bruising can be experienced following treatment, but the chances of this happening can be reduced by following the precare and aftercare information and advice you are given by your clinician, including avoiding alcohol and caffeine for a short period.
Will it be obvious that I have had fillers?
At PHI, we specialise in subtle enhancement, for both men and women. Our aim for treating is always to enhance natural features rather than obscure them or create exaggerated results. We often hear from patients that their friends and family could tell something had changed, or that they look fresher, but that they could not put their finger on the difference.
