As demand for natural lip fillers increase, we at PHI Clinic believe that quality of treatment should only improve, and as such, we only use products that are proven effective and trustworthy. For dermal fillers this means we exclusively use Juvederm, by Allergan, with which we have lots of experience, for elegant, subtle results every time.
What can lip fillers be used to treat?
Asymmetry is particularly noticeable in lips, especially when wearing lipstick or gloss, and can be altered using dermal fillers to plump the thinner part of the lip to create a balanced appearance.
As we age, the definition between the skin of the face and the lip, the vermillion border, can become less apparent, and natural lip fillers can be used to redefine that edge for proportion.
Everyone’s lips become thinner as we age, but some people already have thin lips, and may desire a more plump look, which can require filler to be introduced to the area for a natural looking, fuller pout.
Smoker’s lines aren’t just for smokers, as collagen in the skin breaks down over time, we lose the plump appearance of the lips, which can be filled to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
As the structures in skin breakdown and become weaker with age, the corners of the mouth can start to droop, creating an unhappy look. By injecting precise amounts of dermal filler into specific areas, this can be counteracted to recreate a younger appearance without surgery.
HA based dermal fillers can also be used to define the Cupid’s bow on the upper lip.
Before having natural lip fillers
Prior to any treatment, we require a consultation to create a comprehensive treatment plan, which will include any costing involved. This gives us the opportunity to see your area of concern up close, and discuss any contraindications as well as pre care information.
We advise that you avoid alcohol from 24 hours before treatment, as well as ibuprofen and aspirin, to reduce the chance of bruising.
After lip filler treatment
Alcohol, ibuprofen, and aspirin must also be avoided for 48 hours after treatment, as well as strenuous exercise, which can exacerbate any swelling or bruising experienced. We always prefer to under treat a concern initially, so as not to create an unnatural appearance, so any top ups or concerns you have can be discussed in your follow up consultation with your clinician three to four weeks after your initial session.
