The first place in which we usually notice ageing is the cheeks, as they can sag over time. This is due to the loss of collagen and elastin, vital proteins that give the skin its strength and ability to bounce back from expression. As these break down through the natural maturation process, the skin can sag or droop, leading to the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, and jowling along the jaw. Along with this loss of collagen, fat pads in the face can shift, causing a flattening of the cheeks. These age-related changes can often be addressed with non-surgical cheek augmentation.
Non-Surgical Cheek Augmentation Products
Non-surgical cheek augmentation is performed by our doctors at PHI Clinic, who use dermal fillers to reintroduce lost volume to the area. We exclusively use Juvederm dermal filler products for their proven safety and longevity, with clinically proven results lasting for up to 24 months post-treatment.
These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, or HA, a sugar found naturally in the body that attracts and retains water for a cushioning or volumising effect. The formula also contains Lidocaine, an anaesthetic, to reduce any discomfort experienced during treatment.
Before we treat you, we always require a consultation with the practitioner who will perform the treatment, in order to fully assess your face and discuss your expectations and aims for treatment. If we believe you are suitable for treatment, we will book this at a time and date that suits you; please be aware that we do not perform this on the same day, and require a minimum of 24 hours between consultation and treatment.
During a non-surgical cheek augmentation (which can take as little as 15-20 minutes), your doctor will introduce small amounts of dermal filler into the target area via injection in order to create lift and contour. Results are noticeable immediately, but will develop over the course of 2-3 weeks as the filler settles.
Your clinician will discuss aftercare with you, but you can find more information about dermal filler aftercare on our Juvederm treatment page.
