There’s no denying the current trend for luscious lips and augmented pouts, with the Jenners being hot off the press every five seconds. But beyond sucking on a bottle (please do NOT try at home!) what options are there for those not blessed with bountiful smackers and Kardashian kissers? And how do you avoid the dreaded ‘trout pout’? Join our quest for fuller lips here.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers have been around for many years, and while originally materials such as silicone and collagen were used, they frequently achieved a less than desirable effect, resulting in the volumisers being brandished with a bad reputation.
What are they made of now?
Nowadays, the most beneficial type of filler is made up of hyaluronic acid. It is not as scary as it sounds, though. HA is a naturally-occurring product which already exists within the skin. It retains water and plumps the skin, but as we age these levels diminish. HA fillers restore this lost volume and rejuvenate the features. The results are much more subtle, giving you a natural-looking lip enhancement, for fuller lips without exaggeration.
Who is best to see?
With injectable treatments, it is advisable that you go to a medically-trained professional who has extensive experience in these types of treatments. While knowledge of the facial anatomy is key, the practitioner should ideally have an artistic eye, working with your facial ratios and desired result.
Many prefer to avoid an excessive look, and this is possible if you visit a practitioner who understands your requirements and facial proportions. Trout pouts are a thing of the past with these sleek dermal fillers, as they integrate far better into the tissue than previous dermal fillers.
