While, for many, sweating is largely resigned to the warm summer months, around 5% of the population suffer from hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. For this section of the population, sweating is a year round issue that can be uncomfortable or embarrassing, and affect one’s social and work life. At PHI, we offer two treatments that aim to reduce excessive sweating, Botox and miraDry.
Lifestyle & Temporary Treatment
There are a few changes that you can make in your day to day life in order to reduce excessive sweating before you turn to treatments. Many doctors recommend reducing intake of food and drinks that could worsen symptoms, like alcohol, spicy food, and garlic. Many also advise avoiding smoking and caffeine, as these can directly stimulate sweat glands.
As a temporary solution, we offer Botox injections to sufferers to reduce excessive sweating. Botox, or botulinum toxin, works to block the messages to sweat glands, which in turn improves the symptoms of hyperhidrosis for 3-4 months on average. We advise that this is an ongoing treatment.
Reduce Excessive Sweating : miraDry
With a 89% satisfaction rating on RealSelf, miraDry uses electromagnetic energy to affect the sweat glands in the armpits and reduce excessive sweating. It was cleared by the FDA in 2011 and has since been used to help hundreds of thousands of patients all over the world. Usually, a single treatment is sufficient to see results, though we do advise that some people require a supplementary sessions for optimal outcomes.
At PHI, we require a consultation prior to any treatment, in which our highly trained clinicians will be able to assess your needs and recommend a bespoke course of treatment that suits you.
“Very professional and very friendly at the same time. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to have miraDry treatment. I had miraDry 6 days ago and although there is still a little swelling there is no pain or discomfort at all. Also SK made me very relaxed throughout my treatment which made it feel like it took no time at all.” – Craig, TrustPilot
“Attended earlier this year for a miraDry procedure with Jenna Staal due to excessive sweating under my arms. The facility is clean & tidy. All the staff I came into contact with were lovely. The procedure itself worked really well. As I have only had the procedure once there is still a bit of sweating and wet patches under the arms but this is after exercise or while away in 35-40c heat but everyday just walking around or sat at work there is no wet patches or smell. It has really changed my life as I am no longer self-conscious or worried (which usually made the sweating worse) about patches under my arms and the smell.” – Mr Lunnon, TrustPilot
