An Introduction to Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is becoming an increasingly popular treatment, as it not only rejuvenates the appearance of the skin, but it also helps to break down scar tissue, reduce deep lines and wrinkles, and revive the skin’s glow.
Laser resurfacing eliminates the need for surgery, as it is an extremely effective, yet non-invasive procedure.
So What Is Laser Resurfacing?
Dr Tapan uses a CO2 laser which is both ablative and fractional. This means that it removes diseased or damaged layers of skin, reducing the appearance of imperfections. The fractional nature of the device also means that downtime is significantly reduced.
The light energy from the laser transforms into thermal energy, which in turn helps to stimulate collagen production, increasing its effect and dazzling results.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Many see a dramatic difference from just one session with the CO2 treatment. However, if you are having treatment for scarring, it depends on the depth, size, and maturity of the scar, and how well you take to the treatment as an individual. Another dependent variable is the patient’s own desired result.
Who Will Be Performing My Treatment?
Dr Tapan Patel is one of the best laser technicians in the UK, specialising in treating scars and burns. He has treated a wide range of patients with the CO2 laser; he has worked closely with the Katie Piper Foundation, and featured in an episode of Embarrassing Bodies, as well as working with Tulsi Vagjiani and Darren Pidgeon. Rest assured, he is the man for the job!
What Is Treatment Like?
“Due to the anaesthetic applied beforehand, the actual treatment wasn’t painful. It was only after the anaesthetic wore off that I felt a hot sensation in the treated area. Dr Patel was very gentle with me and reassured me constantly, which was great. I had the area around my eyes resurfaced, which took a lot of skill. I would definitely recommend the treatment to anyone who feels their skin is showing the signs of ageing.” – Patient Testimonial
