Hyperhidrosis is a concern that affects approximately 3 to 5% of the population and can cause self-consciousness for sufferers. In an age of increased technology, more and more treatments are available as an underarm sweating solution. At PHI Clinic, we pride ourselves on offering the most up to date and effective treatment, and we have two options for patients who suffer from excessive sweating, Botox injections and miraDry.
Botox For Hyperhidrosis
One treatment we use as an underarm sweating solution is Botox. While it is most commonly applied to relax wrinkles in the face, targeted injections of botulinum toxin can also reduce excessive sweating by temporarily blocking signals to the glands that release sweat. This is a short term solution, lasting 3-6 months at a time, and we recommend that Botox would be an ongoing treatment in order to maintain results.
miraDry Underarm Sweating Solution
Another option we use at PHI Clinic is miraDry. This is a revolutionary technology that uses patented miraWaves to directly target the sweat glands in the armpit to reduce, or in some cases eliminate excessive sweating. miraDry is a way to permanently address underarm sweating and can be effective after just one treatment, though we usually recommend that two treatments spaced three months apart yields the most effective results.
“miraDry has changed my life, I am so confident – I can wear anything, any colour and I have not touched deodorant since I had treatment! I love miraDry and recommend it to everyone who has suffered from hyperhidrosis – it’s worth every penny! It has been 2 months now and I am totally dry and even considered not having or needing a second treatment, however, my wonderful nurse has advised me to come back within 6 months for a second treatment to maximise these results and to ensure this result stays the way it is now.”
