“I Don’t Need Big Lips To Be Happy”

The desire for big lips has become a popular trend influenced by the media, leading to an upsurge in both men and women seeking to plump and volumised their lips through dermal fillers.
But why?
Over the years trends have come and gone, from idolising Madonna’s bright red lip in the 80’s, to lining your lips with a darker shade in the 90’s. However, who says we have to follow these trends instead of valuing our natural beauty, as appreciating the natural thin lip has suddenly become a thing of the past.

What Is The 'Perfect' Shape Of Lips?
Everyone is different, different shape, size, hair colour and fashion sense, so why should our lips be the same? Now more than ever, more people are seeking treatment to voluminise and plump their lower lip, alongside defining their cupid’s bow, but neglecting what lip shape best suits their face.
According to a recent study that surveyed more than 1,000 people, the perfect lip shape has a 1:1 ratio with the upper and lower lip being roughly the same size. As a result, you may already have what is considered the perfect lip size, as your natural lips are perfectly proportioned to your face.

Are Big Lips Just A Trend?
Crazy trends have exploded across social media with hopes of a quick fix to achieve big lips. The power and influence of social media has developed inconceivable trends over the years, from Kylie Jenner’s shot glass challenge, to even applying super glue to the upper lip (I know right?).
These trends are not only crazy but may cause lasting harm to the lips. By keeping up with the Kardashians, these methods aren’t always sustainable, as trends quickly change and before you know it, the media are pushing the latest hip-happening trend.

Can Thin Lips Be Beautiful?
Between Kylie Jenner and Angelia Jolie advertising the luscious lip, women have neglected to appreciate the natural thin lip from the likes of Jennifer Anniston and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Here at PHI Clinic we embrace the natural lip and work to enhance and harminise our patients natural beauty! Whilst we enjoy trends as they come and go, we don’t let them define us, especially not, when it comes to changing our faces – getting the latest smartphone will do.
Powerful and successful women over the years have rocked a thin lip, here are some of our PHI favourite friends who haven’t caved to the big lip trend.

Our Top 5 Thin Lip Queens
- Jennifer Anniston
- Kate Middleton
- Reese Witherspoon
- Meryl Streep

Not only are these women influential, inspirational and aspiring women, these women celebrate and embrace their natural lip, so yes, we believe the thin lip should make their comeback.

What If I Want To Enhance My Lips?
