Armpit Sweating Treatment In London

Long-term armpit sweating treatments are becoming more and more sought after. Maybe because in the busy frenetic world we now reside in, we don’t have time to keep changing clothes, applying antiperspirant, or avoiding sweaty situations. Most people who experience heavier than normal or excessive perspiration may be suffering from the relatively common condition hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis is abnormally excessive sweating that’s not necessarily related to heat or exercise and the cause is not clearly established. This means that there is no cure currently and so the sufferers of the condition must seek help for symptomatic relief instead. The first port of call for most people who seek an armpit sweating treatment is their GP.

Besides your own good hygiene, wearing natural fibres, and keeping a change of clothes handy, your doctor will suggest trying prescription-strength antiperspirants, medication, and potentially as a last resort, surgery.

If the strong antiperspirants don’t help for long, or you have a reaction to the medications then surgery is an option. However, for a lot of people, the thought of being cut open under general anaesthesia, with lengthy recovery time and risk of infection, is a step too far.

Fortunately, at PHI Clinic, we offer several options for armpit sweating treatments that have made a profound difference to sufferers of hyperhidrosis, giving them back their confidence and more freedom when choosing clothing and activities.

Botox Injections For Sweat Treatments

More commonly known as a beauty treatment for the face, Botox smoothes facial wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles. However, doctors also use Botox to treat neuromuscular conditions such as migraines, muscle spasms, and hyperhidrosis.

Botox works by blocking the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands. Normally, your nervous system activates your sweat glands when your body temperature rises. This is how your body automatically cools itself. In people with hyperhidrosis, however, the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive and can be triggered at any moment and quite often for no apparent reason.

Armpit sweating treated with Botox usually lasts up to three to six months depending on how your body reacts to the treatment, and the feedback we receive at PHI is highly favourable as it offers a wonderful release from a sticky and sometimes embarrassing situation.

miraDry

miraDry is a very popular armpit sweating treatment at PHI Clinic and our expertly trained medical team have carried out this procedure hundreds of times. miraDry is designed specifically for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses electromagnetic energy to target sweat glands and destroy them.

Local anaesthesia is used and the skin is cooled during this hour-long procedure so it is relatively comfortable for the patient throughout. It can be repeated 2-3 times for optimal effect but most patients find that their first treatment results in up to an 80% reduction in sweating and thus they do not feel they need subsequent treatments.

The treatment results in blissfully long-lasting effects as the terminated sweat glands do not grow back and are not replaced by the body.

On our YouTube channel, you can find the testimonial of London Journalist Vicky, who found that the stresses of working life in London were causing her to sweat more than usual, so she came to PHI to address the issue. Whilst she experienced a little discomfort during the procedure, and some mild swelling following her treatment, she was thrilled with the results.

Vicky has not had to use her trusty antiperspirant since the procedure and claims that even in the midst of a London heatwave she had neither sweaty nor smelly armpits throughout the remarkably clement weather. With her confidence and freedom of movement fully restored, Vicky highly recommends miraDry at PHI Clinic.
