Gummy Smile Correction

A gummy smile, also known as excessive gingival display, is often caused by muscles in the upper lip being overactive and pulling the lip up more than necessary during smile or animation. This appearance can cause self-consciousness, even affecting the way sufferers talk and smile in extreme cases, but gummy smile correction with Botox is increasingly available to address the indication.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentists will often offer surgical gummy smile correction to treat this concern. This involves cutting away some of the gum from the teeth to increase the gum to tooth ratio and reduce the appearance of a gummy smile, though there are alternative treatments that do not involve a scalpel.

Non-Surgical Gummy Smile Correction - gummy smile results london 960x690

Non-Surgical Gummy Smile Correction

The non-surgical alternative that we offer at PHI is botulinum toxin, most commonly known for its ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Using targeted injections of Botox, by Allergan, our clinicians can temporarily relax the muscle that causes the lip to lift up in an extreme fashion, reducing the appearance of a gummy smile.

Our gummy smile correction treatment prices begin at £150, though this will vary depending on the practitioner you see. Results from gummy smile correction are noticeable from 3-5 days following treatment, and last for 3-4 months. This is considered an ongoing treatment at PHI Clinic, and therefore we would recommend treatment approximately once every 4 months to maintain results.
