Laughter lines are commonly referred to as smoker lines, can be a source of self consciousness for many people as we begin to notice the appearance of lines as we get age. With ageing comes the break down of collagen and elastin, as proteins that keep the skin firm and plump, in turn, causes skin to become loose and sag.

Dermal Fillers For Laughter Lines

At PHI Clinic we use injectable dermal fillers created by Juvederm® to improve the appearance of vertical lip lines for our patients. Lip filler can be tailored to address individual needs and concerns and across the Juvederm® Volite range, the product used will take those concerns into consideration.

Lip filler works by adding volume beneath the skin, to smooth out the appearance of wrinkles on the service of the skin. Across the range, the thickness of the gel can be adapted in order to address those individual concerns, whether that’s to plump the lips also or simply address vertical lip lines.

Botox For Laughter Lines

One of the most popular anti-wrinkle treatments in the world is botulinum toxin (Botox), which can temporarily reduce laughter lines. Botox injections have been used in the cosmetic setting to safely combat signs of ageing for nearly 20 years.

Botox is FDA-approved for use on crow’s feet, forehead lines and frown lines. Results last approximately 3-4 months and treatment is seen as ongoing. Botulinum toxin injections are a prescription-only medicine (POM) in the UK, so we always require a consultation to determine whether you are suitable.
