Can Lip Filler Treat Dry Lips?

When you hear of lip filler, you may automatically think of the botched barbie look, as the media tends to promote lip fillers that have gone questionably wrong as opposed to embracing subtle enhancements. However, dermal fillers can be used in a variety of different ways to achieve your desired look even if you didn’t want bigger lips or as a way to hydrate dry lips.
“[The best part of my work] is that nobody can spot what you have had done” – Dr Tapan

Hydration And Smoothness
Whilst lip balm may be best for a short term solution for dry lips, over the cold winter months not only has our skin been impacted, but our lips also. Whilst not a major concern, for some this can create self conscious concerns as the lips appear flaky and chapped, as well as leading to some discomfort when talking or smiling that lip balms fail to fix.
Juvederm Volite filler is a thinner gel that can be used across the face, including the lips, to hydrate the targeted area of concern. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a clear substance naturally produced by your body with its main function being retaining water. HA is a water holding molecule that improves hydration, that attracts up to 1000 times its weight in water that can create a rejuvenating, plumping or moisturising effect when injected into the target area.

Symmetry and proportion
You may have heard of the term ‘wonky smile’, which results in the appearance of asymmetrical lips that can emerge over time or may have been there since birth. In a study of over 1,000 people, 60% of respondents noted that a 1:1 ratio between the upper and lower lip was perceived as the most attractive shape.
Now more than ever, filler is used to define and contour the lip, alongside fixing asymmetrical concerns. Juvederm Voluma is commonly injected into the lip to contour and create definition, building up or correcting an asymmetrical Cupid’s bow.

Volume and enhancement
As we age, we slowly lose volume and plumpness in the lips while fine lines and wrinkles form around our mouth and on our lips. Whilst lip enhancement treatment may have the connotation of creating ‘big lips’, by carefully adding dermal filler in particular areas, this can create subtle plumpness and can improve dry lips by appearing hydrated.
Whilst we embrace the natural thin lip, we understand this can be a source of self-consciousness for many, with many celebs favoring the larger luscious lip. This is when we would use a product like Volbella to create a plumper, volumised effect without the dreaded ‘sausage lip’ appearance.
