What Secret RF actually is
Secret RF is a microneedling device that delivers radiofrequency energy through ultra-fine needles into the deeper layers of the skin. The combination of two technologies, mechanical microneedling at the surface and controlled thermal energy in the dermis, is what makes it different from traditional microneedling. Both effects work together to stimulate collagen production and improve skin quality over the weeks following treatment.
How it works biologically
The needles create precise micro-injuries through the upper layers of skin. At the same time, radiofrequency energy is released at the needle tip, generating controlled heat in the dermis where collagen and elastin live. The combination triggers the body's natural wound-healing response: new collagen forms, existing collagen contracts, and skin gradually thickens and tightens.
Because the energy is delivered through needles to a specific depth, it bypasses the outermost layer of skin. That means visible rejuvenation with minimal surface disruption, and a much shorter recovery than traditional ablative laser resurfacing.
What Secret RF treats well
Secret RF is depth-adjustable, which is why it can be tailored to different concerns within the same treatment area:

The clinical evidence
A 2024 review of fractional microneedle radiofrequency concluded that the technology effectively improves wrinkles, skin laxity and scarring across multiple skin types, with a strong safety profile. This is consistent with the outcomes we see in clinic, particularly for patients with mild-to-moderate textural concerns or early laxity who want measurable improvement without the downtime of ablative laser.
What to expect at PHI Clinic
A Secret RF session at PHI Clinic typically takes around twenty minutes. Topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand to keep treatment comfortable. After your session, the skin can look mildly red and feel warm, similar to a sun-exposed flush. This usually settles within a few hours, although some patients see redness persist for a day.
Visible improvement in skin texture and tone typically appears around four to six weeks after treatment, as new collagen develops, and continues to refine over the following months. Most patients have a series of three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on the concern being treated.
Your practitioner will provide aftercare guidance specific to your skin. Gentle medical-grade skincare, hydrating serums and daily SPF help maintain results.
