During your treatment, your assigned aesthetic technician will cleanse your face, use a massage technique to encourage lymphatic drainage, and then deploy a handheld device to remove dead cells and built up dirt. This is followed by the application of a product containing salicylic acid to reinvigorate skin. Salicylic acid is oil soluble, allowing it to penetrate pores, and is an exfoliant perfect for treating acne-prone skin by loosening the attachments between cells in the epidermis.
Cells inside the pores in acne sufferers shed around 5 times as much as those in non-sufferers, and these sticky cells clog the pores to create cysts and blackheads. Salicylic acid helps to remove and loosen these sticky cells to reduce acne, as well as acting as an anti-inflammatory to calm the skin. This can also affect cystic acne, due to its antibacterial properties, but works best on blackheads and whiteheads. Other acids in the product applied to your face can break down pigmentation caused by sun damage and help protect against future damage.
