Introduction to skin tightening

A Skin tightening procedure is a phenomenally popular concern of our patients, with many seeking treatment to rid them of their sagging skin. Many people posed with the question of How to tighten skin will find many creams claiming to aid this indication but at PHI Clinic, we provide device based procedures and laser as opposed to lotions.

There are many contributing factors for sagging skin, but the most common are as follows:

–          Excess or loose skin after pregnancy/weight loss

–          Cellulite

–          Ageing

–          Desire to firm up slightly slack areas of the body

Skin Tightening treatments for the face

At PHI Clinic we house the largest collection of skin tightening treatments for the face at our London Clinic. This gives us the opportunity to tailor our technologies to the patient offering only what we believe will provide the best results for them.

Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy targets the dermis of the skin, producing heat energy to stimulate collagen production. Over time, the skin becomes firmer and lifts, without the need for surgery. It can be used on the face and neck areas, but studies are being carried out to extend treatment to the body.

Ultraformer is High intensity focused Ultra-sound. Similar to the Ultherapy device it provides lifting and tightening by stimulating repair at a deeper level.

The Exilis is capable of treating various depths of the skin’s tissue, disrupting the collagen fibres to trigger the body’s natural healing process. This in turn firms the skin over a period of time.

INFINI For Skin Tightening

The Infini uses radiofrequency to improve the appearance of the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and to induce skin tightening. As we age, our collagen levels deplete which causes the skin to sag as we lose elasticity. Radiofrequency stimulates collagen production at deep levels of the skin, which gives an overall tightening and lifting of the skin, as well as improving the skin’s appearance on the surface.

At PHI we use Infini in two ways: firstly by the use of a microneedle hand-piece, which targets deeper levels of the dermis to achieve skin tightening. Then, the superficial fractional hand-piece is targeted at the epidermis and dermis to provide a mild ablation of the upper levels of the skin.

How many sessions will I need?

Some patients benefit from just the one treatment, but others may see a better result having multiple treatments of Infini to gain the desired result. If this is the case, sessions should be 4-6 weeks apart.

Am I suitable?

Infini is suitable for most skin types. Medical history will be reviewed upon examination to ensure you are a suitable candidate for Infini.

What does the treatment include?

This is a fractional treatment so not all the skin is affected in one treatment. This means less downtime and also makes this treatment suitable for most skin tones. However, it is essential that you seek an experienced practitioner who is able to assess your skin correctly.

Who will perform the treatment?

The clinician seen is dependent on the presenting concern of the patient. At PHI Clinic, we have a fantastic team of clinicians, individually sourced by Medical Director and Aesthetic Doctor, Dr Tapan Patel. We have resident Plastic Surgeons, Aesthetic Therapists, Nurse Prescribers and Aesthetic Doctors.
