A refined approach to lip enhancement
Lip fillers use hyaluronic acid, a substance your body produces naturally, to gently restore volume, improve definition and bring balance to the lips.
Done well, the effect is quiet rather than obvious. People notice you look well, without quite knowing why.
At PHI Clinic we treat the lips as part of the whole face, not in isolation. Our practitioners are known for a measured, artistry-led technique, often placing a little less than you might expect at first and reviewing the result afterwards. It is a more considered way to work, and it is how we keep results looking natural.

The lip looks we create
There is no single lip filler look. At your consultation we tailor the technique to your features and what you would like to achieve:
- Subtle enhancement. A small amount to softly hydrate and define, our most requested result.
- Russian lips. A vertical technique that gently lifts and heightens the centre of the lip while keeping the sides soft.
- Balanced volume. Even fullness across the lip body, for lips that still move and express naturally.
- Border definition. Refining a blurred lip outline, often with little or no added volume.
- Lip restoration. Replacing volume lost with age and softening fine lines around the mouth.
Considering a more subtle change first? You may wish to explore a lip flip with anti-wrinkle injections.
The filler we use
We treat lips with the Juvéderm Volbella range of hyaluronic acid fillers, chosen for their soft, flexible texture and natural feel. Juvéderm is one of the most clinically studied filler ranges in the world, and as an Allergan training clinic we work with it daily. Because it is hyaluronic acid, it is temporary and reversible, which we consider an important safety feature. We do not offer permanent or semi-permanent fillers.
Lip filler recovery, day by day
A little swelling is normal and not a reflection of your final result. A typical recovery looks like this:
Most swelling; lips may feel firm and look fuller than the final result.
Any swelling or light bruising peaks, then begins to settle.
Lips soften and look more natural; small lumps usually smooth out.
Your settled result, and when we review you.
How long do lip fillers last?
Is lip filler right for you?
Lip filler suits healthy adults who would like subtle enhancement or correction and feel comfortable with a natural, considered result. A consultation and full medical history always come first, and we will tell you honestly if it is not the right choice for you.
Lip fillers may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active cold sore or skin infection near the lips, a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, or certain autoimmune or bleeding conditions. Your practitioner will discuss this with you.
Safety, risks and how we manage them
No injectable treatment is without risk, and being open about that is part of responsible, doctor-led care. Our guidance is consistent with NHS advice on dermal fillers.
Common and temporary
Swelling, mild bruising, tenderness and small lumps that settle within one to two weeks.
Uncommon
Asymmetry, longer-lasting swelling, infection or a cold-sore flare in those prone to them. Most are straightforward to manage, and asymmetry can be adjusted or dissolved.
Rare but serious
The most serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler affects a blood vessel. It is a medical emergency, and it is precisely why lips should be treated by qualified medical practitioners. Our doctors and nurse prescribers are trained to recognise and manage it, and we keep hyaluronidase on site to act immediately if ever needed.
Aftercare
First 24 hours
Avoid touching, massaging or applying makeup to the lips.
24 to 48 hours
Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and flights.
Ease the swelling
A cool compress helps, and sleeping slightly elevated does too.
When to contact us
Contact us promptly if you notice blanching, increasing pain or a dusky colour, as these can signal a complication we will want to see quickly.

Lip fillers frequently asked questions
Lip fillers start from £400, with a consultation from £125. Your practitioner confirms a tailored plan and price at your consultation before any treatment goes ahead.
Results appear immediately and typically last 9 to 18 months, depending on the product, the amount used and your individual metabolism.
Our approach is to enhance your natural lip shape rather than change it. We often underfill at first and review you afterwards, so the result looks subtle and balanced.
Most people find it very tolerable. We apply a topical numbing cream and the Juvéderm filler we use contains lidocaine for comfort.
Yes. Because we use hyaluronic acid filler, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you wish to reverse the result or in the rare event of a complication. We do not use permanent fillers.
They are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active cold sore or infection in the area, an allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, or certain autoimmune or bleeding conditions. A full medical history confirms your suitability.
