Cheek filler products are often confused with Botox® in the media, where tabloids sensationalise cases of ‘botched’ treatments, and incorrectly labelled as plastic surgery. While both products are injectable, the differences between them and the effects they have are great, botulinum toxin used for temporary muscle paralysis, and dermal fillers used to introduce volume to an area.
The cheeks are one of the areas we treat most often at PHI, for a range of purposes and effects, so using high standard cheek filler products is very important to us.
Cheek filler products
At PHI Clinic, we exclusively use the Juvederm Vycross range by Allergan for filler treatments, due to their safety and efficacy, as well as the enhanced longevity of the product, lasting up to 24 months. We have found that the different consistencies of filler offered by Juvederm are perfect for our unique patients, to tailor the results both to their needs and their expectations from treatment.
These fillers contain a naturally occurring sugar, hyaluronic acid, to increase volume in targeted areas, as it attracts and retains water for results that improve over time. Because of the way the body’s natural processes break down sugars, the results do fade, so we see this as an ongoing treatment, and recommend top ups every 18-24 months.
As well as considering the product used for treatment, it is important that you choose the right practitioner for results that enhance your face, rather than creating a harsh or unnatural look.
Before any treatment goes ahead here at PHI, we require that you have a consultation with your assigned clinician to outline your comprehensive cosmetic journey plan, discuss your expected outcomes, and get a clear idea of pricing. For cheek enhancement this will always be a doctor, as injectables are a doctor-led treatment, due to the in depth understanding of facial anatomy needed to safely perform such a procedure.
