When the sun eventually shows up in the UK, we all love to spend our time outside to make the most of the heat but whilst most people can’t wait to feel the heat on their skin, it’s important to notice the damage this maybe causing to our skin, if we’re not careful. Everyone has moles somewhere on their body but it is important to get some moles checked as this could be life threatening if left untreated.
Why It's Important To Wear Sunscreen
Wearing sunblock can do more for you than you may think. Sunblocks either reflect or absorb harmful UVA and UVB rays before they cause any skin damage, and the SPF figure indicates how long it will protect your skin for, before you have to reapply. Exposure to the sun may increase chances of skin cancer and can prematurely age the skin, as UV rays can affect the proteins that give your epidermis its strength and elasticity.
When our skin is exposed to sunlight, skin cells make more melanin which darkens the skin causing a tan. Moles are concentrated melanocytes which appear dark in colour and with regular use of sunscreen this may help to suppress the appearance of some types of moles and freckles.
