There are a few types of lip filler products used to enhance the mouth, including hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen, synthetic, and autologous.
HA fillers – made synthetically based on a naturally occurring sugar that retains water in the skin for a plumping effect, these fillers are proven to increase the body’s natural collagen production over time. HA (hyaluronic acid) lip filler products are our treatment of choice at PHI Clinic.
Collagen fillers – these can come from an animal source or be synthetically produced in a lab, and some people suggest that collagen fillers look more natural, but they don’t have the longevity of other products, lasting for 3 to 4 months on average.
Synthetic fillers – this is a wide category, but contains fillers that are not related to anything found in the skin naturally.
Autologous fillers – this is the process of removing fat from one area of the body, usually the thighs, buttocks, or stomach, and injected into the lips. This offers a potentially permanent solution, but can be very costly.
Lip filler products - factors to consider
Our rule of thumb here is that if the price for a lip enhancement look too good to be true, they probably are. This can be indicative of their level of skill and the quality of the product used, as well as the facilities in which you are treated.
Permanent fillers are an option, albeit not one we offer PHI, due to our belief that while a permanent solution may look good initially, it might not age well, and can often look out of place after a few years. With this in mind, we offer temporary results using the Juvederm range, by Allergan.
Removable Lip Filler Products
Hyaluronic acid fillers are unique in that they can be removed using a substance called hyaluronidase, which dissolves the product to be flushed out by the body’s natural processes.
