Humans are social creatures, we love to be with each other, and through the (millions of) years that we have been evolving and developing, we’ve always been smilers. This is why it can be so damaging when someone is self-conscious about a problem to do with smiling. At PHI Clinic, we have a solution to a variety of conditions that can affect just how positive you feel about your grin, so we can help you PHInd your smile.

PHInd Your Smile : Drooping Mouth Corners

As we get older, collagen and elastin deteriorate in the skin, which causes it to sag. This includes skin on the face, which, in conjunction with facial muscles, contributes to drooping mouth corners. This can lead to looking sad or angry as the mouth naturally turns downwards. At PHI, we use dermal fillers to combat this problem, to reintroduce volume into the problem area and reduce the appearance of a drooping mouth.

Gummy Smile

A number of factors can affect how gummy your smile is, but whether the condition is genetic or acquired (nature or nurture), it can be something that increases self-consciousness. The treatment we use to combat a gummy smile is Botox injections. This relaxes the muscle that pulls the lip up to expose the gums, which leads to a gum-free smile. This is an ongoing treatment due to the temporary nature of Botox, and will need topping up for consistent results.

PHInd Your Smile : Thin Lips

Whether you were born with thinner lips, or have developed them through the natural maturation process, they can have a negative effect on the sufferer. Restoring or enhancing volume using dermal fillers is the recommended treatment for thin lips. At PHI Clinic, we use the Juvederm Vycross range by Allergan, which use hyaluronic acid based formulas to balance the lips for subtle but effective results.

Crow’s Feet

Also called smile lines, crow’s feet can develop due to repetitive facial expressions, like smiling, laughing, and squinting. We most commonly use injectables to address this problem, either using Botox to temporarily paralyse the underlying muscle for a smoother appearance, or introducing volume to the area with dermal fillers. As well as these options, we also offer the Erbium:YAG laser, which uses laser resurfacing technology to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet.
